TENNESSEE PREMIERE
‘BAMA GIRL follows a charismatic black woman’s quest to become the 2005 Homecoming Queen at the University of Alabama, one of the great old Deep South institutions. Homecoming has a rich history at the University, tied into centuries of privilege, old money, power and racial exclusivity. This is a film about black and white, about the Old South and the New South, and about an unexpected microcosm of electoral politics that mirrors much of what is happening across our country today. Preceded by VICTORIA. After the film, please make plans to join facilitators from Common Ground for "Reel Conversations About Race." |
